Confused as what to do with that idol, he threw it to the water of the river. Again the next day he found the same idol. This time also he immersed it to the river. Bu t on the same night of the second day, Goddess Ganga came to fisherman's dream and told him to take out the idol from the waters and instead set it in any holy place. Thrilled by the sight of Goddess the fisherman obeyed her orders and on the next morning he found out the idol. Initially only a tiny hut was seen which was made by that fisherman. But with the passage of time, the devotion and popularity of Ganga Maiya started to spread in all directions of Chhattisgarh. Some enthusiastic devotees came forward abd donated handsome sum of money to construct a proper temple complex. This way the establishment of Ganga Maiya Temple took place in Chhattisgarh. Today, not only the local people but also people from other districts of Chhattisgarh come to visit the Ganga Maiya Temple. The shrine of Ganga Maiya Temple is believed to have some extraordinary divine powers and as such the devotees wish to gather the holy blessings of the Goddess.
