Tripura Agriculture Department

The Tripura Agriculture Department takes care of the proper implementation of the policies regarding the growth of agricultural products of the state. Tripura is known for cultivating various delicious fruits, spices and vegetables. The Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation was established in the year of 2001 under the strict supervision of the Agriculture Department of Tripura for better production of agricultural crops.

The Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation has formed several guidelines for further production of better quality fruits. Some of the important plans of the Directorate are:

  • Experimentation in the field of floriculture, tissue culture, organic farming, and mushroom cultivation
  • Harvest management strategy
  • Higher growth of some fruits that would lead to enhanced economic return
  • Use of latest and improved technology in the field of agriculture

    Under the able guidance of government officials who are efficient in the field of agriculture, the agriculture department of Tripura devises several measures for enhancing the quality and quantity of the agricultural products of the state.

    The humid and warm climatic condition is suitable to grow horticultural products of oranges, pineapple, Banana, mango, kharif vegetables, spices, rabi vegetables, litchi, lemon and many other delicious and juicy fruits.

    The state government of Tripura has taken numerous landmark measures to improve the farming methods of the farmers. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy of the state of Tripura. Most of the indigenous local inhabitants of Tripura are engaged in agriculture. The Departemnt of Agriculture is one of the prominent Tripura government departments that provide the farmers with proper training in the field of agriculture and its related activities.
