Tripura Fisheries Department

Tripura Fisheries Department endeavors to increase the production of fish in Tripura so that the state can emerge primarily as a self sufficient state in its demand of fish. Fish is an important part of the diet of Tripura and so along with the increase in production, the ministry also is cared about sustainable fish culture. Accordingly, the department frames comprehensive programs and strategies as per the need.

Fishing is a profession of many in Tripura, providing self-employment opportunities and thereby income generation by this large section of population. One of the most important of the Tripura government departments, the ruling body is also responsible for the betterment of the fishermen community.

The Department of Fisheries in Tripura also arrange for schemes to provide necessary information to the fishermen. Various training and education programs are arranged to increase awareness and motivate the fishermen in sustainable methods of fishing.
