Tripura Governor

Shri Dinesh Nandan Sahaya was the Governor of Tripura during 2nd June 2003 - 4th October 2009. Shri Sahaya was born on 2nd February 1936 in Madhepur village of Bihar's Madhubani District. He is married to Smt. Manju Sahaya and lives in conjugal harmony. The couple is cited to have two daughters and one son. According to his friends and family members, Shri Sahaya is a loving husband and a wonderful father.

He holds a masters degree in English literature and started his career by undertaking the position of a lecturer in the same from Bihar's H. D. Jain College. The year 1960 was a landmark year for Shri Sahaya when he was finally elected to the distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) under the Bihar Cadre. He also spearheaded several highly sensitive and significant operations and holds the distinction of being a senior official of the elite secretariat of several core departments of the government. He also served brief stint with country's leading security agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). On 1st September 1994, he retired after serving several notable years in the police force as the Director General of Police. He was also the recipient of the highly esteemed President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services, the highest recognition awarded to any police personnel.

Soon afterwards, his political career commenced from January 1995 when he became a member of the Samata Party. His sound mind, years of experience, wisdom and political acumen earned him the position of the Senior Vice President of Bihar Pradesh Samata Party and a member of the National Executive of the Samata Party. This continued until November, 2001 when he was elected as the governor of the newly created state of Chattisgarh and held office till the year 2003, when he took over the governorship of Tripura, one of the highest executive posts in the Tripura Government.
