Tripura Janganotantrik Morcha

The Tripura Janganotantrik Morcha or the Janganotantrik Morcha (People's Democratic Front) is one of the prominent political parties that is rapidly making its presence felt in the northeastern state of Tripura. The party was formed by Shri. Ajoy Biswas, a disgruntled member of the Lok Sabha of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or the CPI (M). Popularly known as the PDF, Shri. Biswas who had broken out of the party after being refused a Lok Sabha ticket, formed the party based on his political ideologies. However, the party's official emblem still remains the same as that of its parent organization, the CPI (M) with its trademark the red banner with a hammer and a sickle.

The formation of the Tripura Janganotantrik Morcha, however had its own setbacks. The emergence of the party resulted in a political divide between the teacher's association of the CPI (M) in the state and caused tremendous political upheaval. The members of the CPI (M) led Tripura Government Teachers Association (TGTA) that was responsible for all the government schools in the state and the Tripura Teachers Association (TTA) that accounted for the private institutions were flung into a dilemma creating by the unbridgeable divide. The extent of the split was so extreme and deep rooted that the stalwarts of the CPI (M) came to be recognized as the TGTA (H.G.B. Road) and TTA (H.G.B. Road) and those who swore their allegiance to the policies of Ajoy Biswas were known as allies of the TGTA (Ajoy Biswas) or the TTA (Ajoy Biswas).
