The Department of Information Technology and Industrial Development in the state of Uttarakhand is the body primarily vested with the responsibility to enhance the industrial infrastructure of the state with a special emphasis on information technology.
Computers IT of Uttarakhand is treated on a priority basis by the department. Following the large scale disinvestment and privatization policies encouraged by the Central and the state governments of India, the department has entrusted the State Industrial Corporation of Uttaranchal Ltd. (SIDCUL) to improve and update the Uttarakhand computer IT facilities.
The highlight of SIDCUL's operation is the projected establishment of a IT hub on the Shastradhara Road in the vicinity of Dehradun. The proposed area is as big as 60 acres and will include all possible amenities needed to compete with the extremely efficient IT parks across India.
