Council of ministers in Uttarakhand is led by the chief minister Sri B.C. Khanduri. It includes a combination of eight cabinet ministers and two ministers of state. Sri Khanduri took charge as he kept as many as 35 departments to himself. Mr. Khanduri took his oath as the chief minister of the state on 8th March, 2007, and the names of the ministers included in the Uttarakhand's council of ministers were announced by the end of the month, following a series of meetings with the state leadership of BJP and the other alliance groups including the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and two of the independent candidates.
Chief ministe Sri B.C. Khanduri also has 35 departments at his behest including power, PWD, home, information, horticulture, urban development, higher education and personnel. That also helped to cut down on the size of the council of ministers of Uttarakhand from 15 including the minister of state of the Narayan Durr Tiwari led INC government to a moderate 11, including two ministers of state.
