Districts of Uttarakhand presents the panoramic view of the lesser Himalayas. In fact, the districts of Uttarakhand is an escape to the scintillating hills, majestic valleys, beautiful lakes and the marvelous hill-resorts.

Some of the major districts of Uttarakhand that deserves special mention are:

  • Almora – Situated in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Almora district presents a cascade of scenic beauty. The rich cultural heritage, unique handicrafts, magnificent wildlife coupled with the easy accessibility of Almora draw the tourists from the length and breadth of the globe.


  • Champawat – The district of Champawat was constituted in 1997. The river Ram Ganga acts as a border between Champawat and Pithoragarh in the north while the long chain of mountain in the southwestern region act as a border between Champawat and Nainital district.

    Moreover, the district of Champawat includes two tehsils, four development blocks and 691 revenue villages.
