Forward Bloc

Forward Bloc is a state level political party in West Bengal. It is one of the leftwing nationalist parties in India. The Forward Bloc is also known as All India Forward Bloc. It emerged as a section within the Indian National Congress. That was back in the year 1939, which was under the leadership of the great freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The political party of Forward Bloc was re-formed as an independent political party after the Indian independence in the year 1947. Although the party has branches in different states of India, Forward Block is the most active in the state of West Bengal.

After the formation of Forward Block, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose announced Committee of the Forward Bloc. The important members in the party along with their designations are listed below:

  • President - Subhas Chandra Bose
  • Vice-president - S.S. Cavesheer
  • General secretary - Lal Shankarlal
  • Secretaries - Pandit B Tripathi and Khurshed Nariman
  • Bengal Provincial Forward Bloc Secretary - Satya Ranjan Bakshi
  • Other Members of Forward Bloc – Annapurniah

    The state level political party, Forward Bloc, believes in the socialism but its ideology is different from that of the Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India – Marxist. While the latter ones follow the ideologies of Lenin and Karl Marx, the All India Forward Bloc follows the philosophy and principles of Subhas Chandra Bose. Debabrata Biswas is the present General Secretary of Forward Bloc.
