West Bengal Current Government



The current Government of West Bengal is headed by the chief political party of the state, the Communist Party of India(Marxist). The C.P.I(M) government in the state of West Bengal was democratically elected and is headed by the honorable Chief Minister, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

The national party of C.P.I(M) has held the elected seat of governance for the past thirty years in West Bengal. The current government is led by the chief minister who is supported in his office by the cabinet of ministers. The current government was elected in the year 2006. The policies of the government are debated in the legislative assembly of the state in the presence of the opposition party before the bill is passed as a decree and enacted. The current government has been divided into several departments. Each department is headed by the minister in charge. The Home Ministry is supervised by the honorable Chief Minister himself. The minister of state of the Home Department is Shri Srikumar Mukherjee. The Agricultural Department of the state is headed by Shri Naren Dey. The Finance minister of the state is Dr. Ashim Kumar Dasgupta. Law and order in the state is maintained by the Law Department headed by Shri Rabilal Moitra. The Public Works Department works under the supervision of Shri Kshiti Goswami. The cabinet ministers and the ministers of the state along with the Chief Minister hold office in the Writers' Building in the capital city of Kolkata.

The current government of West Bengal has imbibed several new policies and regulations and works for the welfare of the state.
