The Proposed new name for West Bengal is Paschim Banga

Misti Doi

Misti Doi is one of the most delicious Bengali Desserts. All the feasts in Bengal remain almost incomplete without this Bengali Sweet Dish. The Misti Doi is just next to Rosogolla in its popularity among the Bengalis.

Here are the ingredients that are required to prepare the creamy and delicious Misti Doi

  • 1 liter Condensed Milk
  • 250 grams of Sugar
  • 3- 4 tablespoon plain yogurt
  • Crushed Cardamom seeds
  • Rose essence

    How to Prepare Misti Doi

Boil the cream milk in a heavy bottomed saucer and on medium flame. Heat it till the milk reduces to almost half its volume. During this time, stir the milk well to prevent it from sticking to the container. Then leave the milk to cool down till it is just warm. Put the sugar in a saucepan and heat it in low flame. Wait till it melts into a syrupy liquid and is turns brown. When done remove it from fire and add the condensed milk into it. Blend them very well. After the milk and sugar syrup has mixed really well add around 4 tablespoons of plain yogurt to the mixture. Stir the mixture gently. Add the crushed cardamom seeds and the rose essence according to taste. Put this mix in earthen pots to get the best result and leave it in a dark isolated spot to let the Misti Doi set well.

Misti Doi or the Sweet Yogurt tastes best when served chilled. You can also use some other essence to make various flavored versions of Misti Doi.
