The roads of the state of West Bengal have been developed to facilitate the inter city and state transport along with the intra city transport. There are buses and private vehicles that traverse the road of West Bengal. The infrastructure of the state assures a comfortable road journey in West Bengal.

The state runs buses between the different districts and cities making connectivity between places easier for the traveler. Within the city, there are many modes of transport other than the buses. The city of Kolkata is flooded with the yellow colored taxis. The taxis in the city run on the meter and take the passenger to different destinations within the city. The state of West Bengal is also famous for the tram routes that still exist in the city of Kolkata. Another mode of transport that is reputed in the state of West Bengal is the hand pulled and cycle rickshaws that are there in all parts of the state. The roads of the West Bengal support the presence of such means of transportation in the state.

There are buses that travel between the districts arriving and departing from the city of Kolkata. North bound buses depart have their terminus in the Esplanade area in Kolkata while the south bound buses stop at stands near Fort William. The buses travel within the state from Kolkata to Siliguri and other destinations. The city also has private offices plying buses to the different parts of the state.

West Bengal has National Highways that connect the state to India. The roads are a part of the extensive infrastructure of the state of West Bengal.
