Babita Biography

Babita was an Indian actress of the 1960s and 70s. She was born on 20th April,1948 in Mumbai, Maharashtra as Bhambhani. Her father Hari Shivdasani was also an actor. She married Randhir Kapoor on November 6, 1971. After her marriage, Babita quit the film industry, and followed the tradition of the Kapoor family, which refrained women from acting in films.
They had two children: Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, both of them are the topmost leading actresses of Bollywood. After a strained relationship she finally separated from Randhir Kapoor.

Babita was given her first break in films by G.P.Sippy in Raaz (1967) with Rajesh Khanna. This film made her a successful actress of Bollywood. One of her biggest blockbuster was Farz (1967)opposite Jitendra. This pair became very successful which was repeated in Aulad (1968), Anmol Moti (1969), Banphool (1971), Bikhare Moti (1971), and Ek Hasina Do Diwane (1972). The hit movie Dus Lakh (1967) was released before Raaz co-starring, Sanjay Khan. She was casted opposite Sanjay in another film Sone Ke Haath (1974). She quit the film industry after Sone Ke Haath.

In her short career Babita acted with all the top stars of the time, including Shashi Kapoor in Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati (1969), Haseena Maan Jayegi (1968), Rajendra Kumar in Anjaana (1969), Manoj Kumar in Pehchaan (1970), Shammi Kapoor in Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai and Dharmendra in Kab, Kyon Aur Kahan (1970). She worked with Randhir Kapoor in his directorial debut Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971) which was a landmark film that brought together three generations of Kapoor family. She did another film with Randhir Jeet in 1972.
