Jimmy Shergill is a well known actor in Bollywood. He shot into fame with his role in Yash Chopra's multi-starrer film Mohabbatein. Though he hasn't been able to make a niche in Bollywood cinema as the popular leading man but his performance in character roles has been appreciated. His performances in Munnabhai M B B S and Lage Raho Munna Bhai have won critical acclaim.

Jimmy Shergill 's real name is Jasjiet Shergill. He was born on December 3,1970 in the city of Gorakhpur. He is married to Priyanka Puri and they have a son named Vir. Before stepping into acting, he pursued an acting course at Roshan Taneja's school.

He made his film debut with the film Maachis. Maachis did not launch him as the leading man but did put him in the limelight. His break as a hero came with the superhit, multistarrer film Mohabbatein. His screen presence and his performance wasn't overshadowed by superstar Shahrukh Khan and other stars. The success of this movie led to many movie offers for him. The movies that followed Mohabbatein were Dil Hai Tumhaara, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Haasil, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Yahaan and Hum Tum, Tom, Dick and Harry, and Keta Hai Dil Baar Baar, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. His latest movie to hit the theaters is Delhi Heights.

Mohabbatein was an experience of a lifetime. I remember when I got a call for the screen test I was in Delhi. Two weeks later, when I found out that I had missed that call, I was sure, he would have already cast someone else in the film. But when I found out that they had waited for me, I was thrilled to be in the film. The two years before I signed Mohabbatein were a struggle.
