Namrata Shirodkar Biography

Namrata Shirodkar, was born in Bombay,Maharashtra on January 22, 1972. This Marathi-speaking Bollywood actress with a photogenic face is the sister of Shilpa Shirodkar and grand daughter of Meenakshi Shirodkar, the actress of the early 30s’. She was a marvelous model and her performance in the ramp won the hearts of the millions.

In 1993 she won the Miss India title and was amongst the top six semi-finalist in the Miss Universe Contest 1993.

Namrata Shirodkar made her debut into the Bollywood in 1998 with her first film Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. Her next film Vaastav, in 1999 with actor Sanjay Dutt, earned her fame and she was appreciated for he r performance in the movie. She got accolades for her roles in Bollywood movies like Hero Hindustani(1998), Kachche Dhaage(1999), Pukar(2000), Albela (2001), Hathyar(2002), Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002) and more.

Bride and Prejudice by Gurinder Chadha once again brought her into the limelight . The film proved to be super hit among the Hindi speaking audience as well as in the west and her talent was highlighted. In the same year she acted in a number of movies namely Charas, Insaaf-The Justice and Rok Saka To Rok Lo.

Namrata Shirodkar tied the nuptial knot with the well-known actorof Telugu Film Industry, Mahesh Babu on February 2005.
