Raveena Tandon is a popular Bollywood star. She was born on October 26, 1970 in
Mumbai. Her name Raveena is a combination of Ravi (her father's name) and her mother Veena Tandon. Her father was a Hindi film producer and director in the 1970's and 1980's.
Raveena Tandon got her first film break due to her family's proximity to the Indian film industry. Her first film was Patthar Ke Phool in 1990. Her co-star was Salman Khan. The film was a hit and she got the Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her effort.
However she shot into fame in the film 'Mohra'. The Hindi flick catapulted her overnight to an actor to be reckoned with. However her subsequent films bombed at the box office.
She worked hard to make the transition to more serious roles and finally reaped the fruits of her labours with films like Shool (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Aks (2001).She won the 'Filmfare Special Performance Award for the film Aks. She finally got her due by bagging the 'National Film Award for Best Actress' for playing the role of protagonist in the critically acclaimed Hindi film 'Daman-A victim of Marital Violence'(2001).She played the role of a wife of an abusive husband.
She adopted two girls Pooja and Chhaya as a single mother in the 1990's. Her present personal life includes her husband Anil Thadani and her biological daughter Rasha (born March 16, 2005).
