Bhupen Hazarika Bridge (Lohit River, Assam) is the\u00a0longest bridge in India.<\/h2>\n

Also referred to as Dhola-Sadia bridge, Bhupen Hazarika Setu was inaugurated on May 26, 2017. The bridge is constructed on the Lohit River \u2013 a tributary of the Brahmaputra river and connects Dhola in the south to Sadia in the north. With a total length of 9,150 metres, this bridge now occupies the top position in the list of longest bridges in the country. It is the first permanent road connection between northern Assam and eastern Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Dibang River Bridge on the Dibang River in Arunachal Pradesh is the second-longest bridge in India.<\/h3>\n

The 6,200 metres long bridge connects Bomjir and Malek villages and is strategically important as it helps the Indian military in combating Chinese military threat. Dibang River Bridge was inaugurated in 2018 and it became a part of the National Highway 13, also known as Trans-Arunachal Highway.<\/p>\n

Mahatma Gandhi Setu on the Ganges connecting Hajipur to Patna is the third-longest bridge in India.<\/h3>\n

The 5,750 metres long bridge was inaugurated in 1982 and was the longest bridge in India till May 2017, when Bhupen Hazarika Setu took the honour. The bridge connects North Bihar with the rest of Bihar.<\/p>\n

Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, popularly known as\u00a0Bandra\u2013Worli Sealink<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is the fourth-longest bridge in India. It is a cable-stayed bridge and was commissioned in 2009 (complete 8 lanes were opened in 2010). With a length of 5,600 metres, the bridge connects western suburbs to Mumbai\u2019s central business district.<\/p>\n

Next is Bogibeel Bridge in the northeastern state of Assam. With a length of 4,940 metres, it is the longest combined railroad bridge in the country. The bridge was inaugurated on 25 December 2018 by prime minister Narendra Modi. The bridge has improved road connectivity between Assam\u2019s Dibrugarh and Dhemaji districts. For increasing rail connectivity, it has joined the Lumding-Dibrugarh section and Rangia-Murkongselek section, that lie to the north and south banks of Brahmaputra respectively.<\/p>\n

The 4,700 metres long Vikramshila Setu, which is located near Bhagalpur (Bihar), is next in the list. This bridge is constructed on the river Ganges and connects NH-80 and NH-31.<\/p>\n
