Sudha Balakrishnan appointed as first CFO of RBI

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) executive, Sudha Balakrishnan as its first Chief Financial Officer with effect from May 15. A chartered accountant by profession, she is going to be the 12th executive director of the RBI who will serve a period of three years. 

Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Pandurang Fundkar dies of a heart attack yesterday

Maharashtra Agriculture minister, Pandurang Fundkar, 67, died of a heart attack on Thursday. He was a senior BJP leader who served as an MP for three terms. He also headed the party from Maharashtra.

Distribution of drinking water under police protection in Shimla

Mission Rafter organized by the Ministry of Railways to increase speed of trains

The Ministry of Railways has organized Mission Rafter, a one-day workshop, which aimed at increasing the average speed of the coaching trains by 25 kmph and doubling the average speed of freight trains in New Delhi. This mission will help in reducing the traveling time of the passengers and transit time of the cargo, lowering the operational costs, improving the revenues and reducing the pollution levels.
