01 March 2015 Current Events Senior AAP leader Admiral L Ramdas expresses pain over growing trust deficit within party

Senior Aam Aadami Party (AAP) leader and head of party's internal Lokpal Admiral L Ramdas in his letter to Arvind Kejriwal, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan expressed pain over increasing gap between the three senior leaders of the party. The leader said that it is wrong that these leaders are moving away when all of them just wanted clean politics. He appealed for a quick solution and it was just an attempt to counsel them as internal unity is important for the party.


Jagmohan Dalmiya emerges out as a consensus candidate for BCCI's president post

Veteran administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya has come out as a candidate for the post of BCCI president. As per media report Dalmiya's name has emerged as a frontrunner for this post but no other name for other posts has been finalized yet. Sharad Pawar, the most possible candidate for the president's post has also come to Chennai before much awaited Annual General Meeting (AGM). It is still unclear whether Pawar will contest elections or not. Most likely he will contest elections if he manages to get enough votes.


Manjhi launches political front HAM

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has launched a new political front by the name of ‘Hindustani Awaam Morcha’ or HAM. Manjhi called it similar to Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadami Party (AAP) in Delhi. Manjhi criticized his mentor Nitish Kumar and added that he has worked against poor and mahadalits. It is likely that front will launch a political party on April 17.


TRAI proposes amendments in STD and SMS rates

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed an amendment to the Telecommunication Tariff Order, 1999. TRAI proposed a reduction in STD rates and SMS rates by 35% and 80% respectively. The decision to finalize this amendment will be taken after listening from stakeholders and it will be finalized by March 13, 2015.


Petrol and diesel prices increased with hike in international rates

With the rise in international oil rates, Petrol price in country has been increased by Rs 3.18 per litre and diesel by Rs 3.09 making it month's second raise. With effect from Saturday midnight, the new petrol price is Rs 60.49 per litre and that of diesel are Rs 49.71 per litre.


Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take oath as CM of J&K

PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be sworn in as chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir today. Along with him 12 legislator from the BJP and 12 from the PDP will also take oath. As per media report 12 out of them, 6 from each party would be a part of the cabinet. The oath taking ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All eyes are now on the probable cabinet and ministers.
