01 May 2019 Current Events 'Extremely severe' Fani is likely to hit Odisha

Meteorological department of Odisha issued a red alert on Tuesday for the seventeen districts of Odhisha. Bishnupada Sethi, the Special Relief Commissioner stated that the cyclone Fani is most probably destined to cause huge damage to the buildings and houses across Odisha. Moreover, it may disrupt road and rail link of several places. Other than this, the reports state that the storm Fani is predicted to cross Odisha coast between Chandbali and Gopalpur around Friday afternoon. The expected speed of wind will be around 175-185 Kmph that can even rise up to the speed of 205 Kmph.
