ICICI Mutual Fund all set to topple HDFC Mutual Fund


ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund is poised to edge past HDFC Mutual Fund for the numero uno position with 22% growth shown in the Q4 year on year basis. This has also brought the company into Rs.1 trillion bracket. Its average asset under management or AAUM increased to Rs.106822 crore in Q4, and was behind HDFC by just Rs.6000 crore where the AAUM stood at Rs.112963 crore as it showed a sluggish growth of only 11%. Reliance MF was next in fray with an AAUM of Rs.103541 crore. The Indian mutual fund industry which comprises 46 mutual funds had a total AAUM of Rs.857218 crore in Jan-Mar quarter. There was an addition of Rs.40561 crore compared to last fiscal though growth was below 5%. 24 MFs had negative growth, 28 had AAUM less than Rs 10000 crores and only 5 crossed Rs50000 crores whilst the top 3 funds are secure with AAUM of Rs 100000 crore. Other MFs which gained were Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, UTI Mutual Fund, L&T Mutual Fund,Franklin Templeton MF and Axis Mutual Fund. 38% of AAUM is managed by HDFC, Reliance and ICICI Mutual Funds.

Tripura gears up for polls, 9 all-women polling booths to be there

There will be 9 all-women polling stations set up in Tripura by the Election Commission which will have all women personnel as per Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Ashutosh Jindal. This has been done keeping in mind the performance of women in the last elections. As many as 19000 polling personnel will be appointed. This includes 60 women who would be manning the 3095 polling booths across Tripura. Along with them there will be hundreds of sector officers and micro observers to do the duty. Training is being imparted to the personnel by the senior officers and the central observers selected by the Election Commission. There are seven central observers. Along with this there is campaign to create awareness among people to vote. The polling time has been extended by an hour keeping in mind the hot weather that is from 7am to 5pm in place of 7am to 4pm excluding Nagaland and Manipur.

Out of 1546 polling booths only 55 normal in Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency


There are 1546 polling stations set up in the Lok Sabha constituency of Srinagar, but only 55 pass the requirements of being categorized as normal. Farooq Ahmad Shah , the Returning Officer stated that of 1546 stations, 1021 were hyper-sensitive and 470 have been categorized as sensitive. The categorization is based on security parameters. There are 804 polling booths in Srinagar district, 540 booths in Badgam and 202 polling stations in Ganderbal district. Candidates can file the nomination papers from April 2 - 9 and April 12 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. On April 30 between 7 am to 6 pm polling will be held in Srinagar. Total number of voters in Srinagar constituency is 1171772.

Delhi HC upheld conviction of Nitish Katara's convicts

The conviction of three convicts in Nitish Katara case was upheld today by the Delhi High Court. Nitish Katara was abducted and murdered in 2002 and it was termed as honor killing. Among the convicts is the son of the UP Minister D.P. Yadav. April 25 has been earmarked as the day when the sentence to Vikas Yadav,Sukhdev Yadav and Vishal Yadav will be announced by the court. The court also opined that the appeal lacked merit. The court gave its verdict after an year when on April 16, 2013 it had put aside its verdict on the case. The three convicts were now serving life term. Five appeals have been made to the court, one each from the convicts and two from Nitish Katara’s mother as well as from the prosecution. Death penalty was demanded by the prosecution and Neelam Katara, Nitish’s mother in the appeal. Prosecution has contended Nitish Katara was murdered as he was supposedly having an affair with Bharti Yadav sister of the three convicts. The three were given rigorous imprisonment in 2008 by the court.

India reaches top slot in ICC rankings

Indian team’s good performance in the ICC T20 Championships has helped it to grab the top slot from the Sri Lanka in the ICC rankings. ICC specified in a statement that it reached the top slot in the Reliance ICC T20I Team Rankings Table. The team acquired 7 rating points and since it did not suffer any defeat in the group matches in the tournament being held in Bangladesh it touched 130 points which was same as Sri Lanka. When this was calculated on decimal points then India was ahead of Sri Lanka. Now since Sri Lanka is also in the semis there will be competition between the two teams to reach the top position. Out of 16 teams on the rankings table 13 are playing in the tournament.

Twitter brings in date search feature in its advanced search

Twitter has introduced new feature by which now the users can search tweets based on date. Like if anyone wanted to see what was tweeted during the last Lok Sabha polls then he and she can do so with the new feature in the advanced search. You can look for the tweets from a user to another user that is the mentions as well as tweets from a user or tweets based on some keywords. The search earlier could be done manually earlier in the advanced search by using the operators ‘Since:’ and ‘Until:’ to find out about a tweet from a specific date. But not everyone could use these due to complexity of the search. Now it all gets easy and people just need to key in the right search terms and even find tweets based on sentiments like positive, negative or neutral. There is option to save the search as well.
