02 September 2019 Current Events Mumbaikars Gather at Aarey Road to Protest Against Cutting of Trees

On early Sunday morning, hundreds of people gathered on the streets of Aarey road in Mumbai in order to protest against the proposed cutting of 2,702 trees on this road. The protesters came in large numbers, belonging to all age groups and strata of society, including children and actors like Shraddha Kapoor. They also formed a human chain and shouted slogans. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to axe nearly 2,238 trees for a car shed of Metro-3, which is eliciting this reaction.
