03 January 2017 Current Events Chit Fund Scam: CBI Arrests Sudip Bandopadhyay

As per reports, CBI has today arrested TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay for being involved with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. Bandopadhyay arrived at the CBI office at 11 am and was interrogated for four hours, which was later followed by his arrest.

The investigation agency had already called Bandopadhyay thrice earlier.


Former Puducherry Minister VMC Sivakumar Murdered

According to reports, former minister and ex-speaker of Puducherry VMC Sivakumar was murdered by unidentified assailants today noon. Sivakumar was on his way to visit the construction site when a group of assailants stopped his car and attacked him with sickles. The incident took place at Neravy-TR Pattinam near Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam district.

67-year-old Sivakumar was rushed to a government hospital but was declared dead.


Flights and Trains Delayed for Dense Delhi Fog

Thick fog on Tuesday morning in Delhi has resulted in delay of 13 flights and more than 50 trains, while two flights were cancelled. Out of the 13 flights, seven were international and six domestic. Twenty-two trains were rescheduled while six trains were cancelled because of bad weather conditions.
