Both Houses of Parliament adjourned over missing files of coal block allocations


The parliamentary proceedings were disrupted today and finally adjourned till Wednesday as the opposition did not buy Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement that the government was in no way hiding any information on the coal mines allocation. BJP asked for a debate on the files linked to coal block allocations which have went missing and demanded the PM’s intervention before he left for Russia for the G-20 summit. The PM in his statement said it was not correct to state that the files related to anomalies in coal block allocations were missing. He also said that all efforts are in process to locate the files, also majority of the files demanded by the CBI have already been handed over to the organization.

Congress demands resignation of Modi for Sohrabuddin Sheikh shootout case


The Congress has pressed for the resignation of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi till the investigation in the murder of the witness in Sohrabuddin Sheikh case does not gets over. Tulsiram Prajapati was killed on 28th December 2006 in a shootout which was reported to be staged. In this case Amit Shah, minister of state for home and the close aide of Narendra Modi, is the main accused. In December 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife were killed in police shootout and Prajapati was the sole witness. Congress demanded the resignation of Modi in the wake of a petition submitted by a reporter which specified that there were attempts by Prakash Javadekar and Bhupendra Singh Yadav the MPs from BJP to delay the proceedings of the trial. The findings were done through sting operation where it was also stated there were manipulations to save Amit Shah. Congress is also said to have circulated the CDs of the sting operation which has captured Prakash Javadekar. BJP had dismissed the allegations levied by the Congress on Modi.

Sensex down by 651 points, rupee trades at 68 against dollar


Sensex dipped drastically on Tuesday down with 651.47 points and ended at 18,234.66 points that is a decline of 3.45%. Nifty also closed at 3.77% down at 5,341.45 points. This mood of the market was due to reports coming in that there were missile attacks on Syria which raised the fear of oil crisis and hike in prices. This had effect on the rupee too which slipped down to below 68 against a dollar, that is a decline of 2% in the value. The stocks of realty, banking, oil and gas plummeted as there were large selling riding on the apprehensions that there will be an increase in crude oil prices which can have damaging affect on the economy already limping with highest ever current account deficit, fall in industrial production and inflation.

Swann and Tendulkar inspires Rasool


Parvez Rasool, who is first to be elected in the India cricket team from Jammu and Kashmir, is inspired by the England spinner Graeme Swann. He stated his and Swann’s bowling styles were similar so he drew inspiration from Swann. He also said his all time favourite was Tendulkar. 24 year old Rasool was in the India A's tour to South Africa where the team grabbed the tri-series against South Africa A and Australia A. He said that he should gain experience in bowling to top batsman and also needed to play against the pacers. Rasool also added that Bishan Singh Bedi had a major role to play in his career.

'Andaz Apna Apna' sequel to have Ranbir and Shahid?


It may not be possible to see the sequel of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ with the same stars, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. This is because the director Rajkumar Santoshi is not able to get joint dates of both the actors so he may be roping in Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Santoshi’s ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ which stars Shahid Kapoor will be hitting the theaters soon, so he wants to start working on the sequel to ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. Ranbir Kapoor had earlier worked with Santoshi ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’. It is yet to be known whether there will be new characters in the sequel or the iconic characters essayed by Salman and Aamir as Santoshi has stated he was still working on the script.

Microsoft acquires Nokia for 7.17 billion USD


In a major development, Microsoft acquired Nokia’s mobile phone unit for 7.17 billion USD thus ending a saga of the company as a phone maker. Nokia will assign Microsoft a non-exclusive licence for 10 years and will be now delving in network infrastructure and services. Nokia was a leader in the mobile phone domain for 14 long years. Samsung took over its top slot in 2012. It was constantly facing stiff competition from Samsung and Apple more in the smartphone category which has become a rage now.
