04 August 2020 Current Events COVID-19: West Bengal Government Revised the Dates of Statewide Lockdown

On Monday, West Bengal government revised the dates for the statewide lockdown earlier declared. As per the new guidelines, the complete shutdown will now be observed on August 5 (Wednesday), 8 (Saturday), 20 (Thursday), 21 (Friday), 27 (Thursday), 28 (Friday), and 31 (Monday). In this biweekly lockdown, only essential services will be allowed. Pharmacies will remain open, whereas all the other shops will be shut for two days a week across the state. The educational institutions will also remain closed till August-end. Commercial establishments and government and private offices will also be shut. On the days of the lockdown, private and public transport will also remain shut. On flights, confirmation is yet to come whether the flight services will remain closed on those days. Further, Eastern Railways has also canceled the trains scheduled on July 29. Petrol pumps to remain operational on the days of complete lockdown. Banks will also remain closed all over the state on all Saturdays to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
