04 December 2018 Current Events BJP gives its nod to Hyderabad name changing

On Sunday, BJP's star campaigner Yogi Adityanath proposed Hyderabad's name to be changed to Bhagyanagar. The Chief Minister of UP was addressing a rally in the election-bound state of Telangana.

On Monday, the national spokesperson of BJP, GVL Narasimha Rao welcomed the decision, adding that the party will take up the matter if it comes to power. "Most people in Hyderabad know the city as Bhagyanagar as its earlier avatar. This is a great suggestion. BJP will pursue (the matter) further…", said Rao during a press conference.


Bulandshahr violence: 3 arrested and four detailed so far

On Monday, violence erupted in Bulandshahr after carcasses of 25 cows were found near a police post in the forest. One police officer, inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was shot down while trying to control the mob.

A local man was also killed by the violent mob, over allegations of cow slaughtering. The angry crowd burned down a police station, wounded 5 other policemen, and many vehicles were also set ablaze. So far, three people have been arrested and four detained in the case. The "major accused" person belongs to the right-wing organization Bajrang Dal.
