MK Stalin Elected DMK Working President

DMK treasurer, MK Stalin has been elected as the working president of the party. This post was created in view of the failing health of his father. His nomination for the post came at the party's general council meeting this Wednesday and made it clear that he is his father's successor.

Justice JS Khehar, the New Chief Justice of India

Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar has sworn in as the Chief Justice of India on Wednesday, succeeding Justice Tirath Singh Thakur. Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India, administered Khehar the oath of office.

Khehar is the 44th Chief Justice of India.

Google CEO Hosts Technology Event for SMEs in Delhi

Google Ceo Sundar Pichai has hosted a technology event in New Delhi and launched Digital Unlocked programme to train SMEs. As per reports, he said that more than 5,000 workshops have been planned and any small business can sign up to this programme. Digital Unlocked will run in partnership with FICCI. A digital training programme has also been announced by him for the Indian SMBs.

The event is attended by IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and many other senior executives from Google.

EC Announces Poll Dates

As per reports, Election Commission has announced poll dates for five poll-bound states Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand. On Tuesday, a meeting was held by the Election Commission with Chief Electoral Officers of the five states.

Reports say, the UP election will be held in seven phases and a single-phased election will be held for the rest of the four states.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nasim Zaidi is giving out details of the election process to the media.
