Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet US President Obama

To improve the India-US ties Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fly to Washington to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama in September. Earlier PM was denied a visa by US in 2005 because of Gujarat riots. As per media report President Obama is eager to improve the relationship between the two nations. This is the second meeting of Obama with Indian Prime Minister in the span of one year. Last meeting was attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Washington during his visit to the UN General Assembly summit.

Land will be granted to Chandigarh University and PGIMER on priority

Keeping in mind the long term requirement, both the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and Panjab University (PU) will now be allotted more land. The decision has been taken by the top officials in the Chandigarh administration in consultation with senior functionaries of these two autonomous premier institutions in spite of limited land in the Union Territory. As per media report Punjab University required more than 100 acres of land whereas PGIMER required near about 150 acres of land. Chandigarh administration will give land to these two institutions on priority from the pool of land it has.

Finance Minister's meetings with industry expert before national budget

It will be the first national budget by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. It will be presented the next month but Finance Minister has already started the consultation meeting with various stakeholders, industry experts and leaders. He met with representatives of the farm sector including notable M.S. Swaminathan in the morning. He will also meet with a group of civil society members, industry bodies like FICCI, CII and Assocham. As per media report their present task is to increase the speed of economic reforms and revive economy.

Reaffirm pledge to protect environment on World Environment Day says Modi

Collective efforts by Government and people can turn our planet into greener planet and we must utilize natural resource, said by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day. In his tweet he stated that we should serve as trustees and must make sure to give happiness to the coming generations. As per media report he also added that on World Environment Day we must bow to mother earth and confirm our pledge to protect the environment. India is a country where living with nature is a part of culture. Each step taken by us must be towards protecting nature and natural resource.

Anjali Damania left AAP

Senior AAP leader Anjali Damania from Maharashtra has left the party and appealed not make her exit an issue as per media report.  In her resignation she has written that she is putting an end to her association with the AAP with heavy heart. She wanted media to respect her privacy so she had switched off her mobile as well. Though the Mayank Gandhi at the AAP’s office in Mumbai has confirmed the news but made no comment. Maharashtra is soon going to have its assembly election in October and it is speculated that the AAP is preparing to contest those elections.

16th Lok Sabha has its new members

Elected candidates including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, L.K.Advani, Congress President Sonia Gandhi took oath as members of the newly-elected 16th Lok Sabha. Pro-term speaker and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath who took oath on Wednesday administered the oath. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and union minister for water resources and Ganga rejuvenation Uma Bharti took oath in Sanskrit. Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar took oath in Kannada as they both are from Karnataka as per media report.
