06 December 2017 Current Events 5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes Uttarakhand; tremors felt in Delhi

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Uttarakhand on Wednesday evening. The tremors of the earthquake were felt in Delhi and the National Capital Region. According to media reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was reported in Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand. Rudraprayag is located around 121 km east of Dehradun. Other areas where the tremors were felt included Roorkee and Dehradun in Uttarakhand and the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. No damage has been reported so far.


Third test between India Sri Lanka ends in draw; India wins series 1-0

The third test between India and Sri Lanka ended in a draw. With this, India has won the series by 1-0. However, the test was a moral victory for Sri Lanka as the team's youngsters, led by Dhananjaya De Silva, took advantage of the ineffectiveness of the Indian spinners and ensured the match ended in a draw. During the test, which was held in Delhi, the Sri Lankan team had also to face the pollution.


Chinese Foreign Minister to travel to New Delhi

Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister, will attend the meeting of Russia, India and China (RIC) Foreign Minister in New Delhi on December 10. Media reports quoted Wang Yi's office as saying that the minitser would also hold talks with Indian officials. Following the Dokalam standoff, this would be the first high-level visit by a Chinese official to India.
