06 July 2020 Current Events Saudi Arabia Announced New Measures for Post Coronavirus Haj Yatra

To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Saudi Arabia announced health protocols for the 2020 Haj season. The country has decided to limit the number of domestic pilgrims attending the Haj to around 1,000. As per the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam, will also be prohibited from touching during the Haj. Social distancing norms have also been implemented. Further, access to sacred sites at Mona, Muzdalifah, and Arafat will also be limited to those with Haj permits, which will start from Sunday, July 19 till August 2, 2020. Also, wearing masks has been mandated for both pilgrims and organizers.
