Shocking details of cruelty on domestic help by BSP MP's wife


Shocking details of the torture of the domestic help by the BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife is coming up. A minor who also worked at the house has provided the details. The domestic help Rakhi was beaten with hot iron rods and kicked before she died during Diwali. The MP’s wife Jagriti Singh who is a dentist was arrested for the murder. The minor girl has given statement that the MP’s wife was livid when Rakhi took more time to prepare a meal. She hit her with an iron rod. Even though she was bleeding profusely she was not taken to the doctor and was not given anything to eat. The torture continued the next day as well. In fact a boy, also a minor, was beaten and was asked to wake Rakhi at 3:50 am and when he got late by 10 min in doing so he was beaten as well. On November 3 Rakhi lay still and was not responding then Jagriiti Singh told the minor not to disturb her as she has given her medicine. Dhananjay Singh removed all the cameras in the house and asked the servants not to reveal anything. Dhananjay called the police 12 hours after Rakhi had died. Incidentally the MP has charges of a double murder on him.

Shinde rejects BJP's demand for SPG cover to Modi


Sushilkumar Shinde, the Union Home Minister has not agreed to BJP’s demand for security cover of similar level as provided to PM Manmohan Singh for Narendra Modi. The security cover by the Special Protection Group (SPG) can be availed only by the prime minister, former prime minister and in some special cases like that of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The home minister stated that this matter was under consideration of the law and this could be given only to the prime minister. Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh though earlier had stated that the central government offers security to people depending on the threat to them and that Narendra Modi already availed Z-category National Security Guard (NSG) cover. Also he was given extra security during rallies and other programmes.

0.20% increase in the lending rate by SBI


State Bank of India has increased the lending rate by 0.20%. This would have an impact on loans like home, auto as well as consumer loans and will get dearer. The change will be in effect from tomorrow. The minimum lending rate which was 9.80% has been increased to 10% now. Along with this the Benchmark Prime Lending Rate (BPLR) was also hiked by 0.20% and stands at 14.75% from 14.55% earlier. This will also inspire other banks to follow the same pattern. Before SBI, HDFC had also increased the rates by 0.20%. SBI has also increased the FD rates for some deposits. It is to be noted here that RBI increased its short-term lending (repo) rate by 0.25% to 7.75 percent which was a clear indication the lending rates was going to increase. In September SBI had hiked the base rate to 9.80 percent with an increase of 0.10%.

India vs West Indies first test match, first day


At stumps on the much hyped India vs West Indies first day of test match which is also Sachin Tendulkar’s 199th or the second last Test India were 37 for the loss of no wickets. West Indies in their first innings scored 234 runs so India needs to make 197 runs to avoid a follow on. The batsmen at crease were Shikhar Dhawan 21 not out and Murali Vijay 16 not out. Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami made their Test debuts in this match. India restricted West Indies to a modest score as the bowlers got 2 early wickets. Samuels and Darren Bravo of West Indies got out within a short time and that started the crumble of the West Indies batting line up. Mohammed Shami who debuted took four wickets for 71 runs.

iPhone 5s and 5c craze hits India


iPhone 5s and 5c have been launched in India on November 1 and it has been lapped by the people so much so that now there is a shortage of phones. The retail chains have already said that their stocks have exhausted and even the local dealers have a huge waiting list for the phones specially the iPhone 5s whereas 30,000 phones were launched in India in which around 6,000 were iPhone 5s devices. The gold coloured phone which has given it a much needed hype is available for a hefty price of Rs 70,000 though the MRP is Rs 53,000. The trend which is visible is that people are willing to shell out money to get phones which are above the Rs 45,000 slab like the Note III, Sony’s Xperia Z1, Nokia Lumia 1020 and LG’s G2 but among all these Apple seems to get more response. Some analysts have also said this is a strategy to release less number of models in the market to generate more interest.
