07 April 2017 Current Events IT-officials Raid TN Health Minister Vijayabaskar and Actor Sarathkumar's Premises

As per reports, Income Tax officials began search on Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar's several premises on Friday morning. The same search was conducted on actor and All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader R Sarathkumar, vice-chancellor of Dr MGR Medical University S Geethalakshmi and former AIADMK legislator Chitlapakkam Rajendran as well.

The step was taken by the IT-officials after complaints were received against Vijayabaskar for being involved in distributing cash to voters in RK Nagar constituency where a byelection is going to be held on 12 April.

The searches began at 6 am.


PM Modi Arrives at Delhi Airport to Receive Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina

As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at New Delhi Airport on Friday. Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and the MP from Asansol, was also at the airport to receive the Bangladesh Prime Minister.

Hasina will be staying for another four days in India during which the two countries will sign 25 agreements, which include important areas of civil nuclear cooperation as well as defence.

India has also plans to announce a line of credit of USD 500 million for military supplies to Bangladesh. Extensive talks on fighting terrorism and improving security cooperation between the two leaders will also take place.
