07 December 2014 Current Events Mamata Banerjee addresses a rally and attacks BJP for playing communal politics

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee referred the BJP leaders as 'men of riots''while addressing a rally organized by the minority cell of TMC. The rally was organized to observe “Babri Masjid demolition day'.'She attacked the BJP and said that the party is playing communal politics. CM Mamta gave a surprise visit as she was not scheduled to attend the rally because of her other programmes. She also talked about the NIA investigation into the Burdwan blast.


Delhi consumers may get chance to choose disocms

In case amendments in the Electricity Act implemented by the government, the Delhiites will get a chance choose the power company of their choice. Government will take this step to increase the competition among power companies, to reduce losses of discoms and to improve the supply of electricity. The changes are based on systems operating in the United Kingdom in which suppliers of electricity do not manage the distribution network. In India, currently discoms supply as well as manage the electricity distribution system. As per new changes there will be more than one suppliers but one only company managing the entire network.


PM Modi appeals people to contribute on the Armed Forces Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet appealed every countrymen to generously donate towards the welfare of our Armed Forces on the occasion of the Armed Forces Flag Day. PM Modi tweeted - On Armed Forces Flag Day, I appeal to all of you to generously donate towards welfare of our Armed Forces, who serve our Nation day & night.'' He also tweeted that Armed Forces have played their every duty with a patriotic spirit. The brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation are remembered on the Armed Forces Day which is celebrated on 7th December every year.


Roger Federer is excited to play in India

Playing for the first time in India is a 'pleasure and privilege' said the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer who came to India to play for Indian Aces in International Premier Tennis League (IPTL). The 17-time Grand Slam winner will play in India against Singapore Slammers. He said it is special to play somewhere for the first time. India is a different place and he is excited to play here he added.

AAP changes its campaign strategy

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will now focus on the issues related to common man rather than party chief Arvind Kejriwal on its FM radio campaign. Arvind Kejriwal has himself changed the strategy on the basis of feedback he received. The AAP has adopted "carpet-bombing" strategy. As per media report instead of Kejriwal's voice it be the voice of people who got affected because of various issues in Delhi. The party has also promised to build 20 new colleges if comes to power.
