07 January 2019 Current Events Now quota for upper caste poor people

Today, the Union Cabinet approved a quota of 10% for the economically backward people who belong to general category. This reservation will be provided in employment and educational sector. Certain criteria like an annual income below Rs 8 lakh etc will have to be met to qualify for the reservation benefits. 

After approval from the Union Cabinet, the Parliament is expected to take the matter of constitutional amendment bill on quota tomorrow.
