Crop burning continues in north India for more than a week now. In last one week, more than 10,000 stubble burning incident has been recorded across the country. Among which, 80 per cent is from the state of Punjab. Despite the Supreme Court's rapping the state government, the practice of stubble burning continues. From October 28 to November 4, satellite has detected 10,671 active fire points all over India and amongst which 8,000 has been spotted in Punjab itself. Punjab adopted green revolution in 1970s in order to earn more profit and farmers changed their cropping pattern from wheat to paddy. And each season, they burn the remnant crops in order to clear the field for new crops to grow.
