Seven coaches of Howrah Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express derail in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra

On Thursday, seven coaches of Howrah Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express derailed near Fafrakkund railway station in Sonbhadra. The train was running at a speed of about 40km/hr which prevented any injuries when the incident occurred. As per Anil Saxena, the spokesperson of Railway Ministry, “the accident occurred at around 6:25am and we have already cleared out the site.” In a third train derailment within a month in Uttar Pradesh, the officials reported that no one was injured.

Nirmala Sitharaman takes charge as India's first full-fledged woman Defence Minister

On Thursday, Nirmala Sitharaman took charge as the first full-time woman Defence Minister of India. Nirmala Sitharaman was elevated as the Cabinet Minister on Sunday and was given the Defence Ministry. A priest held prayers in her chamber before she took charge on Thursday. Earlier, she could not take charge as the former Defence Minister, Arun Jaitley was on a visit to Japan. On Thursday, senior officials were present and she briefly interacted with them after taking her charge. Sitharaman is the second women in the crucial Cabinet Committee on Security after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
