Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections; BJP likely to win

In a battle for three Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat, four candidates are there on the ground. While BJP is battling for its three candidates BJP President Amit Shah, Union Minister Smriti Irani and Balwantsinh, Ahmed Patel is the Congress party's candidate for the Gujarat Rajya Sabha polls. BJP has 122 legislators in the Assembly out of 176 making it to be the majority party. With such high numbers, BJP's Amit Shah and Smriti Irani are likely to emerge as clear victors. However, it will have to go for cross-voting for the third seat. 44 MLA's of the Congress party are in support of Ahmed Patel as he needs 45 votes to win. The polling for today's Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections is being held at The Swarnim Sankul in Gandhinagar.
