08 August 2019 Current Events Rain Worsens in West Maharashtra

The flood position in the western part of Maharashtra is intensifying, due to which the authorities had to evacuate nearly 1.5 lakh people to a safer place. Moreover, about 16 people lost have their lives in the districts of Satara, Pune, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur, as the water level has risen dangerously. The flooding has become so severe that it took a toll on power situation in the region as well.

West Bengal's first 'rainbow wedding' took place between bride Tista Das and groom Dipan Chakravarthy who both went under the knife for sex re-assignment surgery. It was a traditional Bengali ceremony that took place in West Bengal with the presence of family and friends. Recently, in a historic judgment, Supreme Court (SC) recognised the third gender and said that they can no longer be discriminated from availing equal opportunities.
