India could face expulsion from Olympics

India may face expulsion from the Olympics because of corruption. Even the IOC President Thomas Bach said that if corrupt officials are not out then India will have to face this expulsion. If this happens then  the Indian Olympic Association will be out of the Olympic scene. 40 years back South Africa was out of Olympics for racial segregation in the country. Bach laid stress on good governance which is the key factor in Olympic games. He urged the strictness and said that rules must be followed strictly. The Indian Olympic body is now worried and thinking to amend its constitution for meeting the directives of IOC. In case no change will be made then the International Olympic Committee executive board will recommend "de-recognition" of the Indian committee. Last year also the Indian body was suspended because government was interfering in the election process of the IOC. Since then many of the issues have been resolved but now India has to work on the demand of IOC to bar officials charged with criminal offense. But if there is no solution then they have to take the next step. The preliminary decision will be taken by the IOC executive board and the final will be taken by the full IOC in its next meet in early February in Sochi, Russia. In the present suspension, IOC funding is not issued to India. Also India officials are not allowed to attend the official Olympic meetings. Even Indian players cannot compete in Olympic under their national flag. If India will be barred to take part in Olympics then there will be no officials and committee for the same. The whole issue emerged after last year’s election of IOA in which secretary-general Lalit Bhanot was elected. Bhanot had been jailed for 10 months in corruption charges. The IOC is saying that anyone who has charges against him or her must not be allowed to hold office.

BJP wins in MP and Rajasthan and neck to neck competition in Chattisgarh

BJP won in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan with clear majority. But in Delhi it was a spectacular show by the Aam Adami Party (AAP) which is just after BJP. The AAP pushed India’s the most traditional political party Congress at third spot. With this BJP has not received a clear cut majority in Delhi. Chhattisgarh has seen a tough competition between BJP and Congress. With such a defeat, Congress said that it will introspect its defeat in these states. As per BJP this is nothing but a mass anger against Congress which has been a ruling party since 2004 through United Progressive Alliance. Both anti-Congress feeling and Modi wave are said to be the reasons for BJP’s victory. The most shocking is the defeat of Sheila Dikshit, chief minister for 15 long years, from her own constituency to AAP founder leader Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. At the same time, just a year old AAP has performed surprisingly well in Delhi assembly elections and competed with both BJP and Congress. Even the Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said that they were expecting two digit seats for AAP but the results are really astonishing. On the other hand Congress is saying that these elections are not the reflection of the Lok Sabha elections which are going to be held next year as these five states accounts for just 73 seats out of 543 in Lok Sabha.
