08 January 2016 Current Events Non-bailable warrant issued against Dhoni

A non-bailable warrant has been issued against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. As per media reports, the warrant, which was issued by a court in Anantapur, is for allegedly denigrating a Hindu God by posing as Lord Vishnu on the cover of a magazine. The cricketer has been asked to appear in court on February 25.   


Delhi engulfed by fog

Many areas in and around Delhi were engulfed by thick fog this morning. As per media reports, poor visibility badly impacted road traffic which moved at snail’s pace in many areas of Delhi and NCR. Flights were delayed as the runaway visibility dropped to 75m. The MET office has predicted overcast conditions and some parts of the capital are likely to receive light rain and thundershowers.


Mehbooba Mufti expected to take oath as CM of J&K

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter Mehbooba Mufti is likely to take oath as the chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir. As per media reports, she will be the country’s first Muslim woman Chief Minister. The oath ceremony will take place around 3 or 3.30 pm and will be attended by senior BJP leader Ram Madhav.
