08 July 2017 Current Events World Bank states that India is emerging as front runner in fight against climate change

According to reports, World Bank has stated that India is emerging as a front runner in the global fight against climate change. According to World Bank publication, India with a sweeping commitment to solar power, innovative solutions and energy efficiency initiatives to supply its people with 24x7 electricity by 2030, is emerging as a front runner in the global fight against climate change. The Indian government ambitious targets of 160 gigawatts of wind and solar by 2022 has been sighted as positive initiatives.


Pakistan army resort to mortar shelling and firing along LoC

According to reports, in Jammu and Kashmir Pakistani shelling killed two persons while three children were injured in Poonch district. According to defence sources, Pakistan army resorted to mortar shelling and firing along Line of Control (LoC) in Gulpur sector. The shelling prompted an effective retaliation from the Indian troops and they gave a befitting reply.
