08 November 2019 Current Events Padma Shri Awardee, Nabaneeta Dev Sen Breathes Her Last on Thursday Night

The prolific Bengali writer, Nabaneeta Dev Sen passed away on Thursday night in her south Kolkata resident. Sen was 81. Padma Shri awardee, Sen was suffering from cancer for a long time and her condition was worsening during past 10 days. Born to a poet couple, Narendra Dev and Radharani Dev, Sen grew up in Bengal and graduated in 1958. She married Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen in 1959 and got divorced in 1976. She was a professor at the Oxford University and the Colorado college in US and later taught comparative literature in Jadavpur University.
