08 September 2020 Current Events PLA Alleges Indian Troops to Cross LAC on Monday Midnight

PLA accused Indian troops of crossing the LAC and firing shots to deter Chinese patrol guards in the Pangong area late on Monday night. This accusation comes amidst the intense tension at the border in eastern Ladakh, and days ahead of a meeting between the foreign ministers in Moscow. The spokesperson of PLA Western Theater Command said that Indian troops had 'provoked' China again by unlawfully crossing the LAC at the "shore of the Shenpao Mountain area." He said, "During the operation, the Indian army blatantly fired shots at the patrol personnel of the Chinese border guards who had made representations, and the Chinese border guards were forced to take countermeasure to stabilize the situation on the ground". He further said that this move from India’s side "seriously violated" the pertinent agreements between China and India, which has stirred regional tensions and misunderstandings. However, the reports say that no shot has been fired at LAC for several decades, not even in the June 15 Galwan clash, where nearly 20 Indians and an unstated number of Chinese soldiers died. The response is awaited from the Indian side to the statement released close to midnight.
