Agni-II missile successfully test fired

Medium-range nuclear-capable Agni-II Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) has been successfully test-fired by India at around 9.40 am on Sunday. As per media report the trial was conducted from a mobile launcher from the Launch Complex-4 of Integrated Test Range. Agni-II's launch weight is 17 tonnes with a capacity to carry a payload of 1000 kg for a distance more than 2,000 km. The last successful test of Agni-II was conducted on April 7, 2013.

Two former AAP MLAs unwilling to contest elections

Two former AAP MLA, Harish Khanna from Timarpur and Rajesh Garg from Rohini are not willing to contest Delhi Assembly elections this time. They cited "lack of internal democracy" in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the reason for their decision. But AAP is saying that it has yet to decide if they would contest elections or not. As per media report Khanna said that though he will not contest elections but he will continue working for the party.

Laxmikant Parsekar, new CM of Goa

Senior BJP leader Laxmikant Parsekar has sworn in as the new chief minister of Goa after the resignation of Manohar Parrikar. Governor Mridula Sinha at the Raj Bhavan administered the oath of the office and secrecy. Oath taking ceremony took place at the Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula. Laxmikant Parsekar became the 18th CM of Goa. Francis D'Souza will continue working as Deputy CM but he has also been appointed as deputy leader of assembly.

PM Modi's cabinet to undergo expansion and reshuffling

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet is ready for re-shuffling and expansion. As per media report 20 new ministers will become part of the cabinet after the ceremony that is scheduled to take place at the Durbar hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan at 1.30 pm today. Modi will also host a breakfast for the newcomers including Manohar Parrikar, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Bandaru Datttatreya. Manohar Parrikar, who will be the first cabinet minister from Goa, is most likely to get Defence portfolio which at present is handled by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Gujarat companies are interested to invest in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh during his Ahmedabad tour invited top industry players to invest in the state. Companies such as Rasna, Hitachi Hirel, Adani Wilmar Group, Varyar Group, GMS Shipping, Concord Bio-tech and Shah Alloys have shown interest as per media report. Rasna is interested to set up a mega food park in Himachal Pradesh as state's apple are better than China's. To promote Himachal at national and international level the company will have soft drinks tetra packs under the brandname "Rasna Himachal". Vadilal Ice Cream manufacturing group proposed to set up a processing unit in the state. Adani Wilmar Group is setting up a cold storages in HP and already invested Rs 200 crore.

First Match between Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand draws in

The first round of the World Chess championship between world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway and challenger and five times world champion Viswanathan Anand ended in a draw at Sochi, Russia on Saturday. Draw took place in 48 moves.
