09 October 2019 Current Events Centre is Aiming 1,400 km Long Green Wall of India

The centre is aiming at creating a green belt from Porbandar to Panipat in order to combat climate change and desertification. The belt would be 1,400 km long and 5 km wide from Gujarat to Delhi-Haryana border which will run through the width of Africa, from Dakar to Djibouti. The idea to build this "Great Green Wall" is at a very budding stage which is considered as "India's legacy programme" which can wage war against land degradation and the "eastward march of the Thar desert".
