As per a TOI report, India's COVID-19 cases hiked sharply with 781 new cases on Thursday, which is an increase of 30% more compared to the previous highest, i.e. 598. The record is broken not only in terms of the highest number of cases, but also it had broken the pattern of the last seven days when daily cases stayed between 500-600. Maharashtra is leading the upsurge with 229 new cases, Tamil Nadu reported a total of 96 cases, Rajasthan 80 cases, Gujarat 76 and Delhi 51 new cases. Besides, according to the Health Ministry India recorded a total of 199 deaths from across the country due to COVID-19.
