India will ask Pakistan to hand over Hafiz Saeed

India will ask for handover of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder and 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafeez Saeed when the Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik visits this week as informed by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.He stated that the issue of Saeed moving freely in Pakistan was discussed with Malik in Maldives on the sidelines of a SAARC inter-ministerial conference in September, and at that time it was specified that he should be handed over to India.Malik is expected here on a three-day visit from Friday and liberalization of visa agreement is likely to get operational at that time.Shinde also stated that India will ask for voice samples of the handlers of the terrorists who carried out the Mumbai terror attack in 2008.

BJP demands investigation into reports of lobbying by Wal-Mart

The BJP has asked for a transparent inquiry and response from the government on reports that specify that the international supermarket chain Wal-Mart was indulged in lobbying activities in the US and spent Rs.125 crore for that.These activities also entail to increased market access for investment in India. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu sought an explanation from the Prime Minister and also specified that the central government cannot be silent on the revelations which have emerged and BJP would keep on raising questions on the issue in parliament.Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad the reports by Wal-Mart are evidence enough about the company spending money on lobbying in India.

India will add 30,000 MW of renewable energy by 2017: Abdullah

In the 12th plan period (2012-17) generation of 30,000 MW from various renewable energy sources has been fixed.New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah apprised the Rajya Sabha that the power generation capacity to the tune of 26,267 MW from renewable energy has been earmarked as of October 2012. Abdullah stated that a report prepared by a World Bank team in 2010 mentions that India could produce about 68,000 MW of power from wind, bio-mass and small hydro power resources at a cost less than Rs.6 per unit.

Gopichand rapped by Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court on Monday sent a strong statement to national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand that it was ethically wrong to run a private academy in Hyderabad when he heads the selection panel. The court opined that they had no contentions whether he was a good coach or not, he may be that but running a private camp when he was a national coach and member of the selection panel was not fair. The court said this in response to a petition filed by Mumbai shuttler Prajakta Sawant in November who said she was suffering from mental harassment after not being allowed to participate in the national camp.

Shotgun keen to do film with Big B

Shatrughan Sinha is eager to do a film with Amitabh Bachchan. The two had discussions regarding various possibilities of coming together, and a project is now being designed for them. Shatrughan Singa said that they had not done any movies together after Shaan and Kaala Patthar. He also stated that it was just because of Amitabh Bachchan that he came after his heart surgery to such a big gathering for his 70th birthday.

Bihar receives Web Ratna award for public grievance website

Bihar's public grievance redressal website has been given the Silver Icon Web Ratna Award 2012. The award was given by the Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibbal to S. Siddharth, Bihar's secretary of urban development and public grievances, in New Delhi on Monday.The public grievance redressal website -- http://bpgrs.in -- was an endeavor by the state government for e-governance and has various features for quick and transparent resolution of complaints. The complainant also gets notification on his/her e-mail about the action taken.
