Fire at Tirumala Temple, no casualties reported

Fire broke out at the Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh early this morning. The fire department says that the situation has been brought under control. The blaze is most likely to have been caused by overheating in the kitchen area. No casualties have been reported.

Haryana Police asks Jat protesters to end quota stir

The Haryana Police has appealed Jat agitators to end their protests for quota. Haryana's Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Muhammad Akil said that efforts were on to persuade the Jat community members not to participate in agitations as this will cause inconvenience to the public and create more confrontations.

Will get uncut version of 'Udta Punjab' released in Majitha: Capt. Amarinder

Amid the ongoing controversy over Censor board cuts in upcoming Bollywood movie Udta Punjab, Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh said he would get the uncensored version of the movie released in Majitha on 17 June. The Majitha Assembly constituency is represented by SAD party member Bikram Singh Majitha who is also the brother-in-law of Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal. Majitha was accused of having links with the drug trade a couple of years ago. Main opposition Congress had demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
