Road shows in Varanasi

Varanasi looks like a real battlefield in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The top-most party leaders are coming to the city to campaign for their party candidates. The Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi visited Varanasi to hold a road show for Ajay Rai, its party's candidate from the Varanasi constituency. His caravan included other senior leaders of the party like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Pramod Tiwari, Madhusudan Mistry and Mukul Wasnik. They visited many minority areas of the city. Varanasi will also observe the road shows by the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, today.

Water level in the Mullaperiyar Dam to be raised

The Kerala assembly act was made in the favour of keeping the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam at 136 feet, but it was dismissed by the Supreme Court, on wednesday. Officials visited the Mullaperiyar dam site, at Kerala, and initiated the preparation to raise the water level to 142 feet. This decision was taken after, Kerala demanded for a new dam because of leakage in the 119-year old Mullaperiyar dam, which was earlier refuted by the Apex Court. The dam and its 13 shutters were inspected by a high-level team of officials from Tamil Nadu. Kerala and Tamil Nadu has always fought over the water from this dam, which was built in 1886.  

EC issues notice against Rahul Gandhi for violating 'model code of conduct'

A notice to the Congress VP, Rahul Gandhi has been issued by the Election Commission, for violating the 'model code of conduct.' Earlier, while delivering a speech at Himachal Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said, that 22,000 people will be killed, if BJP comes to power. He also said, that the entire world is asking a question for the first time that when will there be peace in India. He has been asked to clear his stand by 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The 20-day IFL will provide an altogether different online shopping experience. Users can participate in the IFL, by voting for their favourite city. Indian Fashion League is based on the cricket competition, the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sobha Group solemnized community marriage

The Sobha Group, run by P N C Menon, a Keralite based in the Middle East, has arranged a mass marriage ceremony in the state. 19 more marriages have been added to the total making it 438. Women from the Vadakkenchery and Kizhakkenchery gram panchayats, in the Palakkad district got married in the mass wedding ceremony. For assessing the eligibility, persons were checked on the grounds of their financial stability. Selection of the groom was done by the parents of the bride. The next mass marriage ceremony will be held in December.

Last round of polling in Uttar Pradesh

A politically significant state, Uttar Pradesh will witness polling on Monday, in which more than 30 million people will cast their votes in more than 31,000 polling stations. Varanasi is the most prominent, because of the direct fight between the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, and the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Ajay Rai is contesting from the Congress.
