Heavy monsoon rains in Uttarakhand's Dehradun led to floods and landslides. Eleven people have been reported dead in the rain-related incidents in the state. Four people lost their lives when a building collapsed in Dehradun's Seemadwar, three were washed away in Dalanwala, Sahaspur and Balliwala, and four were killed when a house collapsed in the Shastri Nagar area. The highways in the state have been blocked by the landslides. All the Government schools and anganwadi centres have also been closed due to heavy rains and thunderstorm alert.
A landslide in Tamenglong in Manipur led to the death of at least nine people. The landslide took place in the intermittent period of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Some houses also collapsed in the district during the early morning hours of today.
According to the World Bank's figure for 2017, India has become the world's sixth largest economy, putting France in the seventh place. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of India amounted to $2.597 trillion at the end of 2017, against $2.582 trillion for France.
